Saturday nite, yes, it's Saturday night...

Here I am.  My dear hubbie is trying to make up his mind if he should go "chill" at a coffee shop.  This is what I have been saying to him, "Well, what do you REALLY feel like doing?"  And he answers me with a "Well, I could just go to bed."  I say to him, "Well, then go to bed."  But then I say, "You should go."  Because really, I LOVE HAVING OUR ABODE ALL TO MYSELF!!!  Especially when wee little man is asleep!  I truly love it.  It's not that I want for him to stay out all night or anything, but ultimately, I am wanting some time.  Time to do anything.  Clean, nope.  Drink wine, yes.  Listen to music, yes.  Be crafty, yes.  Light some candles, yes.  Organize my craft room, yes.   I think many of you understand.  Dear hubbie doesn't get to spend many eves out, so I think it is good for him to go...so I CAN PARTY LIKE IT'S...wait, how does it go?!  Ha!  Happy Saturday night!  I can't stop listening to these guys.

It's crazy...

I can't believe it!  My etsy store is finally up!!!!  Yay!!!  And I love absolutely LOVE the photos that were taken of my wares. Crystal and Kendra are my beautiful models.  And don't they look gorgeous?  I can't wait to add more stuff to my etsy shop.  We had a wonderful photo shoot and Justin (Crystal's hubbie) gets a standing ovation for the photos.  And he just volunteered to take them and then he added his fancy-schmancy, holy cow, photography lights and camera!!!  I am so blessed!  I have a big thankyou coming their way in something that I hope they'll appreciate!  So go check out that funky shop!  I'm so excited about it!

In other news, I am waist-deep in rehearsals.  I have a show next week folks. And it's gonna be fantastico!  Get those tix you Austin folkies!  Happy it's almost October!!!

32 and growing....

Today is the day.  The day that I was born.  And I love this day.  The feeling of this day.  The connection I have to my own Mother in so many ways that began on this day.  The weather today is cloudy, cool, and there's a feeling of seasonal change in the air.  The weather is always nice on my birthday!!!  I have a rehearsal today but dear hubbie is taking me out on the town TONITE!  yay!  I just wonder where we're going.  Hopefully a movie and dinner.  Or coffee or something like that. 

I love my life.  32 years and growing, that's me.  I want to be crafty today.  I think I'll stitch something up like this.  Or maybe more embroidery like...hmmm. 

He's 3....

And I just want to cry.  He's getting older by the day, more like by the minute.  I can't believe it sometimes.  We've had a beautiful, beautiful day.  With our favorite breakfast tacos, playing at the playground for endless amounts of time.  Singing happy birthday as soon as he wakes up and he had such a huge smile as we were singing.  We had an amazing dinner with his latest favorite: mashed potatoes (he's never liked them until now, can you believe that?!).    Eating yellow ice-cream, his choice for mango sorbet.  Reading his new books and just squeezing him to pieces.  I just can't seem to squeeze him hard enough.  And when I think that squeeze is going to last, he lets go of me so soon.  It's such a heart-wrenching feeling, but my baby is growing up.  We're having a party for him on Saturday, yay!!! 

You are such a blessing, Solan.  And I can't believe that my life has been so blessed with your presence, your love, your smile, your kisses, your ecstatic dancing, your endless need to hear Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits, and most of all those silly little faces that you make every single day!!  We love you so much!!!

Oh, my sister will be proud....

The one and only David Hasselhoff of "Bay Watch" and "Knight Rider" fame returns with a cover of the 1975 classic 'Jump In My Car' and its a doozy. Recorded in Sydney last year with the legendary Harry Vanda (AC/DC, The Angels), the Ted Mulry Gang tune has been re-vamped with full Hoff gusto and this music video promises to rock the socks off all his Hofficial fans.

I hate being sick...but love live music!

I hardly ever get sick, but it seems to be the case that when Solan's sick, I'm the next in line.  It's just a cold, but with a cough that wakes me up at 4am.  Yuck.  Poor hubbie.  He's being so awesome in taking care of his wee-sick family.  Hopefully, he won't catch it. 

So, last week I attempted to venture to some local stores to have them look at my wares, but was told to come this week.  So, if i'm feeling better tomorrow, I'll be on my way.   Also, I'm getting some models together for my etsy store.  I have to have all of that done very soon, since the deadline for Blue Genie is October 2nd!  Wow! 

In other news, Thursday is Solan's 3rd birthday!  I can't believe it.  We'll have a party for him on Saturday, something small (with a pinata of course) mostly neighbors, friends, and family.  But then, it's my birthday on Sunday!!!  Woo hoo!  I love birthdays!!  I'll be at rehearsal for the majority of the afternoon, but hopefully hubbie has plans for me on Sunday eve.  Yes.  I hope so.  I would love to be taken to a nice restaurant, a movie, and maybe to see some live music.  Hmmm....am I leaving hints or what?!

Oh, I forgot to mention:  I won Austin City Limits 3-day passes for this past weekend. For those of you unfamiliar with ACL, well, it's quite a shindig.  Tom Petty, Ben Harper, Massive Attack, Ray LaMontagne and many many many others.  Unfortunately, I had performances and could only attend hours at a time.  But it was worth it.  I discovered Federico Aubele.  A beautiful voice and beautiful music.  He's from Argentina and his music was absolutely fabulous.  I also discovered these crazy but cool folks, Ghostland Observatory.  And they are from right here, Austin of all places.  I admit at first when I heard them on my way to seeing nose-bleeding, Ben Kweller, I was not liking it at all.  But they grew on me.  And it's pretty awesome.  Very 80s.  I also discovered a Parisian group by the name of Phoenix.  And they're poppy I have to admit...but there's something about them that I like.  Maybe it's that "french" thing rubbing off as they parade on stage.  But it was good.  Real good.  I love live music and miss my single days of venturing to clubs and listening to some good music.  And I can't wait to see this chica.  She's coming soon!!!  I almost saw these guys tonite, but they didn't start till 930p and Solan was with us..so we left.  We're good friends with Cliff, guitar and drummer extraordinaire! 

I'm so happy when I hear good music!!!

Confident, smirk, and big smile...

Today, I was a model.  Yep.  A stock photography model.   I've been a hair model before, getting crazy cuts and walking around in fashion/hair shows and stuff for Vidal Sassoon and NY stylists.  I've even modeled "hair bras."  Yep.  that's right.  A bra made out of human hair.  It was an artistic piece, but very, VERY itchy.  But my time in Austin has introduced me to stock photography modeling.  I was at a beautiful and expansive studio for Jack Hollingsworth.   He is an incredible photographer and has an amazing and fun staff to boot.  But it was an incredibly long day.  I was primarily there for the morning shoot, but they asked me if I could stay.  I did.  And Solan stayed during the afternoon too.  It was a "business shoot."  Basically, I was dressed in a very confident/I'm-in-charge here kind of outfit and they took single and group photos.  Pretty cool.  I did get paid, so that's good too.  Some models there do this kind of thing 3 to 4 times a week...gosh, that's crazy.  But I have to say it's hard work, sitting, standing, having someone fixing every single inch of you over and over and over.   And then the photographer saying, "okay Vidya, give me a confident look.  Now a smile with closed lips.  Now a smirk.  Now a big smile, big smile.  BIG SMILE!!"  And they said this OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!!  My facial muscles were hurting after a while (wish they had someone there to give me a facial massage) But apparently I did okay.  Once I get my portfolio, I'll show you some funny photos.   In other news, I'm off to show my wares TOMORROW/MANANA at some local shops and hopefully they'll want me to sell my shtuff there!!!  Wish me luck!

Celebratory Night!!

Today was the day!!  It was the ABG show.   And it went pretty well.  I sold some aprons, brooches, and hair doo-dads.  My models looked beautiful in their duds and I'm so thankful for them.  Not bad at all..and Crystal was there to man the booth when I was performing.  Thanks again Crystal, you are fabulous and I'm so glad you chose that apron...it suites you so well!!

Why is that the best work or shall I say the best quality of work comes out either immediately or at the very, VERY end?   Several of my aprons I love, but those last minute decisions on fabric/colors, etc.  seem to sell so very quickly.  And those "ideas" that I had early on...well, they were looked at but seemed to be collecting dust.  This week, I plan on venturing to some nifty stores that feature independent/local artisans and crafters.  So, maybe, hopefully, some of my wares will go in those awesome shops...I would be so honored to have my stuff among other heavenlies.  Oh, I opened my esty shop, but there's nothing in it yet.  I'll let you know when I post stuff...it'll be soon.

I am so happy and excited about who I am and what I do.  I love the fact that I have the ability to sew and create fun, exciting things.  It's so fun!  And I do have to say that motherhood has been such an amazing adventure..I have never felt so confident, so crafty, and so happy about who and what I am.  Motherhood looks a-okay on me I guess....but there are days where it is crazy and I would prefer hiding under the sheets for the rest of the morning.  Oh yes!  But I love my family and feel so blessed to be with my men!    Thanks to my hubbie and I'm sorry for being a bit "absent" from you all these past 3 weeks.  Whether it be a performance or rehearsals and then preparation for a craftshow, well, they held the fort down.  I love you!  Here they are...I love them so!

This is the show that I'm participating in on Saturday with my company, A Thousand Petals...handcrafted by Mamameo.  Yay!  And I have 8 models for the fashion show.  Think.  My stuff is somewhere between June Cleaver and hipster/indie style.  I'm excited!

No more Femme FM?

I can't believe it!!!!  I am rather upset and angry.  One of my favorite Saturday nite radio shows is no longer.   I tuned in the last 2 minutes because dear hubbie wanted to listen to some 'ancient voices' crap and I gave in to it.  Well, argh!!!  I can't believe it?!  She even started crying as she was saying "Goodbye!"  Gosh, it's so awful.  I've been listening to her since 2003 and she helped me stay up with Solan when he was sick.  Especially when I'd be breastfeeding.  Theresa, you'll be so missed!!!!
