It's just one of those things...

It's been crazy.  Last weekend's performance was AWESOME and it was so good seeing so many family and friends out there to support me and who/what I do.  Even my Mama came so that was super special.  But the dancing hasn't stopped, no I tell you, it hasn't.  I still have another performance with YellowTape's We Are Normal, Cha, Cha, Cha....the first and second weekend in October.  I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with the rehearsal process, but I think in the end it tends to work itself out.  Here's a little ditty that you might enjoy, yes, that's me giving the "eyes" to the camera.  I think it's hilarious!  But it's a sneak preview to the show in October.  Enjoy!

In other news, still no camera (so sorry)  and I wish I could show you the stuff that I'm making.  I'm loving my wares that I'm making for Austin's Breaking Ground show.  It's next weekend and my company A Thousand Petals will have funky aprons, brooches, wallets, and very cool softies, and funky soap.  An eclectic mix of stuff that I'm excited to sell but I can't wait to see/hear what people have to say.   It's getting down to the wire. 

On top of late night crafting and rehearsals, I have started a new job.  As a substitute teacher at a daycare/preschool called Habibi's Hutch.  It's so awesome and I love it so.  One benefit of working there is that I get to bring my little man! Yay!  It's such a great environment for him, playing music, running around outside a whole lot, and lots and lots of interaction with other kiddos.  I have a feeling that I'm only gonna have one kiddo so there are days/moments where I know my child is lacking socialization with other kiddos.  Well, Habibi's is a perfect environment for him!!!  I'm so grateful! 

I've missed you all and I have a feeling my blogging afternoons will be getting a bit thin, but I'll make sure to keep you all up to date more often!  For those of you swappers, your packages are coming soon, I promise!!!

I'm alive and kicking...

Hey there folks!  Things are a bit chaotic this week with last minute tech rehearsals and such, but I am happy to report that things are going a-okay.  The table work called "Spun" is also going well.  Other than that, I'm still crafting a wee bit, but my nites are definately occupied with rehearsals.  Well, I'll be back soon with more to tell ya...Austinites, go check us at out this weekend!  Calyx Dance Company!!!

It's almost showtime...

Sorry that I haven't posted in a few days, but I've been so busy and tired.  I've been having several extra rehearsals with the Guest Choreographer, Melissa  who is in town for Calyx.  OUR SHOW IS NEXT WEEK!!!  And we are about to start our technical and dress rehearsals.  Yuck I mean yay!!  So if you're in Austin, come check us out! 

My camera is dead, gone, looks at me and says, "what did you do to me?"  Oh well.  We have another but don't have the software to put pics on the PC, so when the money is right, we'll be out to purchase either another camera or some software.  Also, I've been making some cutie lipstick cases for the upcoming show Austin Breaking Ground.  They are still getting the site together, but my company A Thousand Petals will be a part of the fun.  Yay!  I'm excited about it, but I still have so much to do!

Did I tell you?

I'm sure I did.  How much I'm dancing?  Yes, that's right, A WHOLE FREAKIN' LOT!!!  And I'm feeling a bit better about it all.  Well, physically I'm tired as can be, but on a whole a bit better.  I love what I'm doing now...preparing for the Calyx show and rehearsing with YellowTape.  But I realize how different things are nowadays since I'm a Mama.  Physically, I feel so grounded especially in the pelvis (as a dancer reading this, you'll understand and as a Mama reading this, you too can understand from those months of being preggo and the birthing experience), but my mind has flown away.  Maybe Mamasoutthere can understand this too.  It is taking me so much longer to piece things together.  Remembering things.  Argh to memory!  Maybe I should take some ginko or play those mind games that are becoming the "in" thing.  So when it comes to rehearsals I'm that dancer who is forgetting, who looks dumbfounded, who has emotional outbursts during rehearsals.  Argh.  But all in all, I love it!  Today, I rehearsed with Melissa who is the guest choreographer for Calyx and lemme just say that my solo involves a round, spinning platform that I'm standing-walking-sliding-on-my-back-on-one-leg movement.  AND THE PLATFORM IS  MOVING AROUND AND AROUND AT  THE SAME TIME!!!!  WHOA!!  Can you say VERTIGO?  I can and it's what I have..well, not today, hopefully not anytime soon.  But I have been diagnosed with it.  Basically, this work is producing that sensation of having too much wine and waking up with the room spinning.  And I'm half-naked!!!!  Haaaaa, gotcha!  No, I'm not half-nekkid.  But the movement is truly lovely and I feel so good moving in this way, but it's the "spinning" thing that gets to me.  Maybe I'll have to take some Dramamine before I dance!  WHOA!! 

In other news, I'm still being crafty.  I have a show in Sept where I'll be selling my wares and i wish you could see what I'm doing, but the camera is still broken and we are several SEVERAL days away from my birthday, so my new camera will not be arriving till next month.  so for the mean time you should just imagine a woman standing on a spinning platform saying WHOAAAAAAA!!!

And the days go by and the water holds me down...

Yes.  I love David Byrne.  He's a genius and he reminds me of someone that I've met before.  His awkward antics, beautiful intellect, and tall stature are enough to make me drool.  I came across his site and it's pretty interesting.  He has an ongoing  journal and he talks about his "movement" with Luaka Bop.  Luaka Bop was his record label.  It contained many unheard and fabulous artists from around the globe.  I have several albums from LB and I discovered Los Amigos Invisibles through LB.  In matter of fact, I'm hoping to see them at the ACL festival here in Austin.  I saw them not too long ago and they are a great get-up-and-boogie-in-104-degree-weather BAND!  They are also incredibly cute and incredibly funny! 

In other news, I'm being crafty.  Crocheting wallets, etc.  But my camera is on the blink.  literally.  It just keeps blinking.  No photos accept for these and I think my hubbie broke the camera and isn't admitting it.  What is he doing?  Taking half naked photos of himself in the mirror.  Why?  Look at that face, serious, perplexed, wondering if he's breaking the camera, pretending that no one else has seen these photos.  Well, here's one of them!  Ha!  Hopefully these won't be the last photos taken, because if they are I just make him go buy me another!  Ha!
