Sorry about the blurry pic, but I'll take a better one later. So, this morning, I was feeding my neighbors dear chickens. And I looked down and in the dirt was this lapis blue object. I picked it up. It's about the size of a 50 cent piece and it's beautiful. Obviously man-made, but it has these 4 "spots" of red as if they were outlining a box. In the middle of the box, a white "spot." They really aren't spots, but mere splashes or so. Some "splashes" are intact, others have been scraped away. On the back side, it has that rusty/patina look. But it's perfectly round. As if it was part of a piece of pottery or jewelry something. There are several shards of glass (sad but obviously used as a dump at some time) back there around the chicken coop so I just thought it was some glass. I was wrong. But not only did I find that, I found a bottle. Circa 1920's bottle. Fully intact. On the bottom it says, "Barton's DyanShine." Wow! Apparently it was a shoe dye. And doing some research on the internet, I found that there was a rather large factory in Waco around 1916. Then they moved to St. Louis. I'm so excited to have found it. It's so funny because for years I have been wanting to find that "perfect" antique glass bottle. And I found it. So exciting!!! I was an Anthropology/Archeology Major at one time ya know, so this takes me back to that original love I have for diggin' in the dirt. I desperately want to find what the "lapis piece" is. I even called the Historical Commission but it's taking a while to talk to someone. So interesting.
In other news, well, just take a look. Solan and I were playing with my funny wig. And I thought he'd be scared. But all of a sudden out of his mouth, "I'm not pretty enough!" WHAT?! (Well, nobody is pretty with this "cousin it" piece on, sweetie.) He's never heard that from my mouth so I was rather shocked when the air was floating with these words. Ha! And for your viewing pleasure, here I am, wig-n-all! Happy Tuesday!
Cut ya hair, ya freakin' hippies!
